Manitoba Memorial Monument Honouring Victims of Impaired Driving
This is a free community service for all Manitobans*, and families of Victims. The crash may have occurred anywhere on the planet. For a Victim to be engraved on this monument, we require an authorization along with documentation confirming the crash involved impairment by alcohol and or drugs. There is no time limit, as long as the lost loved one was a resident of Manitoba, or a past resident at the time of passing. At the request of grieving Victim’s families, *names of impaired drivers causing death will not be included on this monument.
The unveiling ceremony was held on August 28th, 2016, on the grounds of Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at 4477 Main Street. We will be holding an annual vigil and unveiling as we memorialize new victims every year. For more information regarding the Manitoba Memorial Wall honouring those lost to Impaired Driving crashes, click here.
Sponsorship and donations are much welcomed (and required) to cover the construction and the ongoing maintenance costs of this monument as well as the cost of the annual vigil and engraving of new names annually.
If you wish to assist us with this project, you may make a PayPal donation here. Please click the Donate button and specify in the NOTES section of the PayPal donation process that you want your donation to go towards the Manitoba Memorial Wall.
Telephone Solicitations and Donations
MADD Canada does actively solicit for donations by telephone and direct mail campaigns. We at MADD Winnipeg do not solicit or use the services of a third party to raise funds by calling or canvassing. Our local major fundraiser is our annual Strides for Change walk usually held in early June. Donations may be forwarded to us by mail, or online using the links below.
You may also call us and we will be more than grateful to take your donation over the telephone at 1-800-665-6233 ext. 336. When calling us, please provide your credit card number, name as on card, expiry date and the three digit code on the back of your card (also called your CSC or CVV) with the amount of your donation. If your donation is in memory of an individual or group, please include the name(s) of the victims as well so as to commemorate your donation in their honour.
If you wish, we will also gratefully accept cheques or money orders sent to us by post or courier to our office or hand delivered to one of our local volunteers (all cheques made payable to ‘MADD Winnipeg Chapter’) and we will accept cash donations at any of our educational or fundraising events. You may also support our cause with “in kind” donations in the way of valuable products and/or services, pending local board approval.
We also have the ‘Retire your RIDE’ option for those that wish to donate their motor vehicle or watercraft or RV. Your item is picked up and auctioned off and you will receive a tax receipt for the net value of the sale of the vehicle. This makes it easy to clean up unwanted vehicles with just a phone call or email to the MADD Winnipeg Chapter. (Proof of ownership is required prior to vehicle removal).
If you would like to make an “In Kind” donation, please contact us.
You also have the choice of donating your valuable time and skill set: join us as a MADD volunteer. We have no set minimums or mandatory hours to devote. You can participate and contribute in a way that is best suited to you, your preferences and your lifestyle. For further information, please see our volunteering page or contact our volunteer coordinator.
For local businesses and individuals interested in local community sponsorship, please contact us by email or on LinkedIn. We are honoured to cooperatively work on joint projects and provide customized services together with our socially responsible commercial members of the community. We would love to discuss the various options that are available to you in support of your local MADD Winnipeg Chapter.
