Young Driver Faces Numerous Charges

 

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A single vehicle collision investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment has resulted in several charges against a youth from Blind River. 

 On Friday, November 19, 2022 at approximately 5:22 a.m. Huron County OPP officers and the Goderich Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway near Saltford Road.

 Upon arrival officers located a sedan that had left the travelled portion of the roadway and collided with a guard rail.  The vehicle and guard rail both sustained heavy damages. 

 The driver of the vehicle was transported from the scene to a local hospital where they were treated and later released with minor injuries. 

 Subsequent investigation revealed the driver had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) above 80. 

 A 17-year-old youth from Blind River has now been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, Fail to Remain, Fail to Report Accident, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence & Young Driver BAC Above Zero. 

 They will have to attend court at a later date to answer to the charges.
