MADD Antigonish Bursary In Honor of Inspector Tony Perry

Inspector Tony Perry was a dedicated member of the MADD Antigonish Chapter, also serving as RCMP Staff Sergeant from 2006 to 2015 in Antigonish. Tony will always be remembered for his hard work ensuring our local MADD chapter thrived. He would recruit local RCMP members, come to each meeting getting to know members while giving an update on impaired driving charges or community events. Tony was an reliable ear to listen when someone needed advice and he was more than willing to lend a helping hand or connect with community partners to help the chapter succeed with our mission to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

The MADD Antigonish Award of $500 will be awarded to an outstanding student from the Antigonish Town/County, beginning post secondary studies in the fall. The ideal candidate should demonstrate good character, promise of leadership, and strong commitment to service in our community. Today’s community-minded students are tomorrow’s leaders. Award recipients are selected for their dedication to the humanitarian ideals of Tony Perry, and persistence in the pursuit of excellence in academics and community life. Preference will also be given to individuals who meet the prior criteria AND have been affected by impaired driving or are a member of good standing with the MADD Antigonish Chapter.

Those individuals interested in the MADD Antigonish Bursary in honor of Inspector Tony Perry must complete the application form by May 30th. A committee made up of MADD Volunteers, as well as family of Inspector Tony Perry shall make final selection of the successful candidates. The award recipient will be recognized publicly in June.
